Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of flashcards media in teaching English vocabulary to students with disabilities at SMALB PGRI Purwoasri. The method used is a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this study were SMALB teachers and several students with mild to severe disabilities who participated in the learning process. The results showed that the use of flashcards as learning media helped students more easily recognize and remember english vocabulary. This media attracts students attention because of its simple and colorful visuals, and allows students to learn concretely according to the characteristics

of their special needs. In addition, the use of flashcards also increases students active participation during the learning process. However, their effectiveness is highly dependent on the teacher’s creativity in presenting the material and ability to adapt the learning to each student’s condition. Thus, flashcards are an effective and applicable media in learning english vocabulary for students with disabilities, especially at the SMALB level.
