Abstract

Teaching speaking in an online class is more challenging than in a face-to-face setting, with frequent obstacles arising from both students and teachers. Effective online speaking instruction methods are essential to enhance the learning process and meet educational standards. However, the current limitations in technology use by both teachers and students present a significant challenge, making it crucial to evaluate and improve teaching methods to better motivate and engage students. From this background, the author found several problem formulations, namely: 1. How do the teachers prepare the teaching speaking through online media? 2. How is the implementation of teaching speaking through online media? 3. How do the teachers evaluate the students in teaching speaking through online media? To answer the problem formulation, the researcher uses a qualitative approach with a case study approach and is supported by several data in the form of observations, interviews and questionnaires which will later be analysed by the author using data reduction, data presentation and verification.
The result of this research is show that all the teachers of speaking partner prepare the class before starting. Even though not all teachers create formal lesson plans due to the institution lack of requirement. During execution the teachers engaged in teaching and learning direction by employing diverse array of instructional methods and techniques. this approach and compassed three activities throughout the implementation: they are pre-activity, main-activity and post-activity. The teachers’ evaluation technique in teaching speaking through online media in speaking partner online course had some criteria including of six components: pronunciation, word choice, accuracy, fluency, content, and structure. From here the author suggests for future researchers to find out how to provide motivation related to English language learning, especially in practice
