Abstract

In this day and age, there are so many aspects of life that have changed. With today's digital developments, doing various things has become more flexible. For example, the current development of AI which is able to operate in helping daily activities and even the world of education. One of the fastest growing AIs today is ChatGPT, which has the ability to understand and generate text naturally, which makes it capable of responding to various questions or requests asked by users. Therefore, it is very important to know how students perceive the use of this ChatGPT when writing academically in English.

This research was carried out with the aim of finding out various things, such as: 1} To illustrate the perspective of students who use ChatGPT to learn to create English academic papers. 2} To find out the extent of ChatGPT's use by students to help create English academic papers. This research was carried out at Kadiri Islamic University, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. This study uses a qualitative research method, with a total of 34 students of respondents. With research instruments in the form of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, with data analysis techniques in the form of 1} Data reduction, 2} Presenting data, 3} Conclusion.

The results of this study show that: 1} with 41.2% of students choosing option 2 indicates that most students have used ChatGPT. 2} 47.1% on points to ChatGPT's effectiveness. 3} 41.2% point to the accuracy of ChatGPT's results.
