This study aims to analyze the grammatical errors found in the IELTS speaking test performance of Semester 7A students in the English Education Study Program at Islamic University of Kadiri. This study focuses on the Grammatical Range and Accuracy (GRA) aspect, using the classification framework by Dashti and Razmjoo (2020), which divides errors into four categories: GRA1 (Simple Sentence Errors), GRA2 (Complex Sentence Errors), GRA3 (Global Errors), and GRA4 (Errors or Slips of the Tongue). Descriptive qualitative methods were used, with data collected through audio recordings, observation sheets, and IELTS examiner scoring sheets during the mock speaking test. The analysis was based on Brown's (1994) theory of error analysis. The results showed a total of 87 grammatical errors, with GRA1 being the most frequent (30 occurrences), followed by GRA3 (22), GRA2 (19), and GRA4 (16). These findings show that even advanced students still struggle with basic grammatical structures, especially in forming correct simple sentences. This study shows that strengthening students' basic grammar and implementing contextualized grammar teaching strategies are crucial to improving speaking proficiency, especially for international tests such as IELTS.
