Abstract

Writing is most likely to encourage thingking and learning when students view writing as a process. In teaching learning process a language, there are five aspects that support four language skills above such as: content, organization, vocabulary, language usage, and mechanic. That are also taught in English teaching and learning process. The aim of the research is to find out the answer of the four statements of the problems at the eleventh grade of MAN 4 Kediri. Those are; (1) How is the students' writing ability in explanation text before being taught by using audiovisual media?, (2) How is the students' writing ability in explanation text after being taught by using audiovisual media?, (3) Is there any significant difference between students' writing ability in explanation text before and after being taught by using audiovisual media?, (4) Is the teaching writing explanation text by using audiovisual media?. Quantitative pre-experimental design was used the approach to design this research. The subject of the study is the eleventh grade students of MAN 4 Kediri Badas. The subject were XI-MIA 3 class which consist of 33 students. This research used test and where take one class taught by using audiovisual. To get the data, this research used test, they are one group pre-test and post-test. After getting result of score between before and after being tuaght by using audiovisual media the data was couted by using SPSS to find t-test. It is used to find out whether there is significant difference between before and after being taught by using audiovisual media. The result of research value of the students' writing ability before being taught by using audiovisual was in fair catogery with the mean 43,64, then the students writing ability after being taught by using Audiovisual was in goou category with the mean 69,09. Independent sample t-test with an alpha level 0.05 was used to investigate the significant difference between pre and post test.
