Abstract

Speaking is one of skills which have to master by the students of English learner. Mostly people measure the student’s ability in English from their speaking. Speaking is not an easy skill to be mastered. Although the students know the basic of English but, most of them still can not speak English. It is because there are many factor one of them is they are not confident. The objectives of this study, those are (1) to describe the teaching speaking in Step One program at The Daffodils English Course Pare in the terms of curriculum, syllabus, and lesson plan, (2) to describe the implementation of teaching speaking at The Daffodils English Course Pare in the terms of pre-teaching, teaching learning process, and post-teaching, (3) to describe the evaluation of teaching speaking at The Daffodils English Course Pare. Qualitative was selected as a research approach. The subject of this study were the researcher, the owner, the tutor, and the students in Step One program at The Daffodils English Course Pare. Type of instruments used to collect the data were documentation, observation guide, interview, and field note. The result of this study indicate that the teaching and learning process in Step One program at The Daffodils English Course Pare was very good. It can be seen from the achievement of students got average 79 and the criteria is very good. This study was successfully identified and described the research focus. There is a data such as syllabus, lesson plan which is used by the tutor in Step One
program at The Daffodils English Course Pare. There is also the data that is found such as, assessment rubric, and result of learning. The researcher recommends that non-formal education especially English course should have the curriculum eventhough it has not been published yet by the government but it could be made by the agreement of the owner and the tutors of the course. An English course should have a complete set of learning, such as syllabus, lesson plan.
