Abstract

This study aims to investigate teachers' perceptions of using Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in English learning. Project based learning is a method that focuses on projects as the main medium for more active and independent learning. In the context of education in Indonesia, especially with the Merdeka Curriculum, this method is increasingly relevant as it emphasizes a flexible and project-based approach that can enhance students' creativity and critical thinking skills. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample in this study was 101 English teachers from MGMP SMA in East Java who use the project-learning method in their learning. Data were collected using a Google Form-based questionnaire, and the results were analyzed using SPSS version 27. The results showed that teachers had a positive perception toward the use of Project-Based Learning in English learning. Most of the teachers agree that this method makes teaching easier. In addition, teachers also understand their roles as facilitators, mentors, motivators, and assessors in the application of this method. Project-based learning is effective in improving student engagement as well as learning achievement. Therefore, project-based learning is recommended as a learning method that can be widely applied in English language learning as well as other subjects.
