This research discussed about types and writing patterns of bound morphemes such as inflectional and derivational morphemes. The aim of this study is to analyse the type of bound morpheme that appeared in selected news articles from Tempo. co and BBC News. There are seven types of inflectional morphemes that appeared in both selected news articles such as plural, progressive, possessive, third person singular, superlative degree, past tense, and past participle. The derivational morpheme are three types of derivational suffixes they are noun suffix, adjective suffix, and adverb suffix. The prefixes of derivational morphemes that appeared in both news articles are two types, they are negative prefixesand relationship prefixes. It also analyses the differences in writing patterns between Tempo. co and BBC News articles. This research used qualitative methods to analyse the types and differences in the writing pattern of bound morphemes.
This research’s procedures are the transcript of the selected news articles from Tempo. co and BBC News as the data are classified into inflectional morpheme type and derivational morpheme type. The result of this study, first is the types of bound morphemes, sixty words indicate inflectional morphemes and seventy-four words indicate derivational morphemes. Thus, the dominant type of bound morpheme that appears in both selected news is derivational morpheme.
