Abstract

Based on brief observations conducted at SMA 1 Negeri Pare during the 2022/2023 academic year, it was noted that the learning process predominantly relied on traditional methods such as lectures and question-and-answer sessions, which potentially impacted students' learning achievement. To address this concern, this research aimed to investigate the effect of the Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) learning model on learning achievement of English speaking skills among grade XI students at SMA 1 Negeri Pare in the same academic year. The research utilized a pre experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, with a purposive sampling technique employed for data collection. The data collection involved administering pretests and posttests to the sample. After collecting all the test data, statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS v26 application, including normality, homogeneity, and t-test tests on the students' pretest and posttest scores. The pretest results indicated an average score of 69.14. The posttest results demonstrated a substantial improvement in students' learning achievement in English following the intervention with the VAK learning model. The average score reached 78.00, exceeding the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) set for the English subject. The t-test analysis showed a significant difference (sig of 0.00 < 0.05), leading to the rejection of Ho and acceptance of H1, supporting the effectiveness of the VAK learning model in enhancing student learning achievement. In conclusion, the data overwhelmingly confirms that the implementation of the VAK learning model has proven highly effective in improving student learning achievement at SMA 1 Negeri Pare.
