Abstract

Using companies included in the IDX Business-27 Index between 2022 and 2024, this study investigates the impact of capital structure and profitability on company value, with dividend policy and investment choices serving as moderating variables. Purposive sampling was used to choose the sample, and EViews 13's Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) was used to analyze the data. While the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.678 indicates that the tested variables account for 68% of the variance in firm value, the Durbin–Watson value of 1.987 suggests that the model is free from autocorrelation. The results suggest that profitability has no significant impact on company value, as indicated by its non-significant coefficient of 5.390004 (p = 0.6789), whereas capital structure has a positive impact, as demonstrated by a significant coefficient value of 0.509545 (p = 0.0235). Investment choices increase the impact of profitability (interaction coefficient 4.230574; p = 0.0000) and capital structure (interaction coefficient 0.003356; p = 0.0319) on firm value. As evidenced by its negligible interaction values, dividend policy does not influence either connection. These findings are consistent with Signaling Theory, which emphasizes that investment and financing choices give investors more powerful and reliable signals than just profitability or dividend policy. Overall, the study contributes to corporate finance literature and offers practical implications for managers and regulators regarding financial transparency, strategic signaling, and the importance of investment quality in enhancing firm value.
